Questions? Call us directly at 501-771-4822.
Yes. We are serious about finding the best talent and only want artists to audition who are serious about their careers. This contest is to find talented singers and give them opportunities to further their music careers.
The registration fee helps cover some of the expenses of the contest and sift out those contestants who are not very serious.
Are there age limits for competing in the Great Arkansas Talent Search?
Any person from the age of 15 and up can compete. However, if you are younger than 15, please have your parents call the Executive Producer, Eric Chesher at 501-771-4822, and he will make that decision. Some very talented singers have come from youngsters under the age of 15.
All genres of music will be accepted. But remember, this is a singing contest.
If you are successful and you make it through the first round, you will be given the date, time and place for round 2. Round 2 will be with background music (similar to kareoke) and you will have the opportunity to choose the song or songs you would like to perform.
The GATS judges will be considering not only how well you sing, but also your stage presence, and poise. In addition, we will be looking for the singers who are different, and stand out. Song selection is the most important part of rounds 1 and 2. Be sure to select a song that really shows who you are as an artist, and showcases the good features of your voice.
You should dress for the audition very much like you select your song. You want to dress in way that emphasizes who you are as an artist. There is no dress code, but be wise, make sure what you say with your wardrobe is what you want us to hear.
Artist development includes vocal training, song writing and production, and stage training. Artist development is all the training you will need to be ready for the major labels. Every major artist has received artist development training and most continue the training long after they have made a name for themselves and have a career.
Periodically, we produce an “Infrared Showcase.” This is where artists perform for consideration of signing or booking. The showcase is granted to very few artists and means serious consideration is being given to that artist. It can be one of the final steps along the path to a signing.
